Vintage 18kt JAEGER-LECOULTRE Men's Watch Rare French Market

  

This watch is a manual wind. The number on the back of the case is 173740.

It is stamped with an eagle/birds head which is the French assay mark for 18kt gold in France. It is also stamped with the initials "EJ" which is Edmond Jaeger's makers mark! This is an extremely rare watch and a must for any serious watch collector!! The movement number is 1597039.

Has its original leather band! This watch works; however, it has not been timed for accuracy. NOTE: THIS WATCH HAS BEEN COMPLETELY OVERHAULED. Based on the Calliber, the manufacture of this watch is the late 1950s/1960s. JLC 818 is a manual.

Production of the Calibre 818 began in 1959. For a line of slim dress watches. It is very small, with a diameter of 20.9 mm, and a height of 2.94 mm. It is an 18,000 vph movement.

Calibre 818/4 has 18 jewels, while Calibre 818/5 has 21 jewels. Calibres 818 and 819 were used by Chopard. Calibre 819 is very similar to Calibre 818 but with central seconds.
